Jason Stebbing fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benjy Forrest having to interfere. Loyd Mckay kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. Jason Stebbing struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Benjy Forrest didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gold Coast United. If Arneil Baxter had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arneil Baxter received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Brendon Beckwith tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Christian Venz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. David Gwin kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. 32 minutes into the match, Gold Coast United's Justin Bailey sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Benjy Forrest narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When JK Tammeka's Christian Venz in the 34th minute got a chance for a shot 34th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. In the 44th minute, Jason Stebbing got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 51st minute, Justin Bailey hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Gold Coast United's Brendon Beckwith got control of the ball when Arneil Baxter tried to sneak it across the goal line. 59 minutes into the match, Norman Grieve had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benjy Forrest. JK Tammeka's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Norman Grieve was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. 63 minutes into the match, JK Tammeka's goal looked a bit too open when Jason Stebbing came free, but Benjy Forrest reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 66th minute Jason Stebbing shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benjy Forrest saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. JK Tammeka's Benjy Forrest played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Norman Grieve in the 71st minute of play. Benjy Forrest showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from David Gwin, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Norman Grieve sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Arneil Baxter fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brendon Beckwith having to interfere. Brendon Beckwith showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Christian Venz, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Gold Coast United had won after a very even match.
