Jason Stebbing struck a weak shot in the 4th minute. David Marcola didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gold Coast United. After having played for 5 minutes, Norman Grieve managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gold Coast United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Norman Grieve was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Gold Coast United's Brendon Beckwith got control of the ball when Larkins Pukallus tried to sneak it across the goal line. 11 minutes into the game, one of Mollyspark Pumas:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Mollyspark Pumas:s David Marcola showed great skill when he stopped Jacob Riley:s penalty. Brendon Beckwith took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stew Eversden, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 17 minutes into the match, Mollyspark Pumas's goal looked a bit too open when Norman Grieve came free, but David Marcola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Stew Eversden was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 20th minute. Mollyspark Pumas's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. In the 23rd minute Stew Eversden shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Brendon Beckwith saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mollyspark Pumas's David Marcola played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jason Stebbing in the 25th minute of play. If Larkins Pukallus had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Larkins Pukallus fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brendon Beckwith having to interfere. Brendon Beckwith took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Larkins Pukallus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Stew Eversden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stew Eversden fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Brendon Beckwith having to interfere. Larkin Kuskop kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The Mollyspark Pumas fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Brendon Beckwith showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Stew Eversden, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. Brendon Beckwith showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Stew Eversden in the 77th minute of the match. When Justin Bailey fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gold Coast United's protests and gave Justin Bailey a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Gold Coast United getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Justin Bailey hit a great ball. Stew Eversden received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Brendon Beckwith tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some careless play in the Gold Coast United defense, Larkins Pukallus kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Brendon Beckwith. The Gold Coast United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Brendon Beckwith should have stopped the shot. Michael Lonergan kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match.
