Spectators: 6750 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1600, VIP seats: 150) Sunnyside's Alvin Devine started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Alvin Devine in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Roger Wood saved Excelsior FC from getting behind. Brooks Mccartan was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Rudolph Kiel showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 5 minute of play. Roger Wood stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alvin Devine's shot from short distance in the 9th minute. If Alvin Devine had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 15 minutes, Philip Hicks managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sunnyside's supporters crossed their fingers, but Philip Hicks was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Adolph Dowling kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. In the 20th minute, Excelsior FC's Jason Atkin dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-0. Philip Hicks received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 25th minute. Roger Wood tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 31st minute, Philip Hicks made a precise shot to the right of Roger Wood. Excelsior FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Rudolph Kiel could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Brooks Mccartan made a huge save. If Philip Hicks had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Alvin Devine had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-1. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jason Atkin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Sunnyside's Alvin Devine ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Roger Wood. Roger Wood yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-2. In the 56th minute, Matthews Brennan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Philip Hicks fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Roger Wood having to interfere. Rudolph Kiel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Brooks Mccartan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jason Atkin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Philip Hicks managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sunnyside's supporters rose to their feet, but Philip Hicks was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roger Wood breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The audience was convinced that Rudolph Kiel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Brooks Mccartan was relentless in the 70th minute of the game. When Brye Pearce fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Excelsior FC's protests and gave Brye Pearce a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Excelsior FC's Brye Pearce got a free kick in the 73rd minute. 77 minutes into the game, Jason Atkin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-2. Brooks Mccartan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Ned Biddell fell near the penalty area in the 79th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Excelsior FC's protests and gave Ned Biddell a yellow card for diving instead. Ned Biddell hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Case Heberle during the 82nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Sunnyside booed when Excelsior FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Case Heberle didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 83rd minute, Andres Missen sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Excelsior FC's Roger Wood didn't even have to move. Philip Hicks sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Roger Wood stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Alvin Devine's shot from short distance in the 89th minute. Sunnyside's Philip Hicks got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Sunnyside booed when Excelsior FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Amos Sibbold didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alvin Devine struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Roger Wood didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sunnyside. For all the effort they put into the match, the Sunnyside players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Excelsior FC.
