An unexpectedly hard shot by Patrick Breasley in the 17th minute of play forced Blackened FC's goalkeeper Sam Behla to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th minute, Ben Ancell hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 24th minute Patrick Breasley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sam Behla saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jerrard Simpson in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Russel Huther saved The Z Team from getting behind. If Andy Howarth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlton Wenham kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. After having played for 36 minutes, Andy Howarth managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Blackened FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andy Howarth was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jerrard Simpson's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Russel Huther firmly grabbed it by the left post. In the 40th minute, Jerrard Simpson made a precise shot to the right of Russel Huther. The Z Team's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. 46 minutes into the match, The Z Team's goalkeeper Russel Huther had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jerrard Simpson. Andy Howarth might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Russel Huther. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Andy Howarth ran back to his position shaking his head. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The wind increased when Jerrard Simpson made the kick off in the second half. Jerrard Simpson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Russel Huther read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 63rd minute of play. When the match had gone on for 81 minutes, Jerrard Simpson put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Russel Huther. Blackened FC's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
