Ethan Muncaster's late challenge caught a Kayuga's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ethan Muncaster helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Kayuga booed when SHENHUA FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ethan Muncaster didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 19th match minute, SHENHUA FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andres Wilson to maneuver through the defense. 28 minutes into the game, Kayuga's Jaffery Schutt nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Earl Pegrum made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. If Ethan Muncaster had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Hale Delbridge managed to get in a good position for a shot. Kayuga's supporters rose to their feet, but Hale Delbridge was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Earl Pegrum breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Stan Weller fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kirby Stebbing having to interfere. In the 47th minute, Bryan Pinkerton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

After a defensive mix-up in Kayuga's zone, Stan Weller stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kirby Stebbing came out of the goal and Stan Weller tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 55 minutes into the match, Kayuga's goal looked a bit too open when Corder Clist came free, but Kirby Stebbing reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Ethan Muncaster had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute.
