The Beachlands FC fans' excitement grew in the 4th match minute when Beachlands FC's Earnest Trezise looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Earnest Trezise took the ball and in the 7 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dean Smoothy. Dean Smoothy dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. 10 minutes into the game, Earnest Trezise cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Dean Smoothy was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Payne Frew sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 20 minutes into the match, Bundaberg RUMblers's Randall Anders sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Neale Peplow narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Dean Smoothy made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Payne Frew in the 22nd minute of play. Beachlands FC's Neale Peplow proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Beachlands FC from getting a goal against them. 31 minutes into the match, Beachlands FC's goalkeeper Neale Peplow had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Randall Anders. Earnest Trezise fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dean Smoothy having to interfere. Dean Smoothy took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Earnest Trezise, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 39 minutes into the match, Bundaberg RUMblers's goal looked a bit too open when Payne Frew came free, but Dean Smoothy reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Randall Anders got free with Neale Peplow in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In a very dangerous position, a player in Beachlands FC fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 43rd minute. Penalty! Edwards Millgate's late challenge caught a Bundaberg RUMblers's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Edwards Millgate helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Beachlands FC's Edwards Millgate got a free kick in the 45th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

A collision led to Beachlands FC getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Carsyn Phillips hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Brandon Brennan managed to get in a good position for a shot. Bundaberg RUMblers's supporters rose to their feet, but Brandon Brennan was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Neale Peplow breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 61 played minutes Beachlands FC got a freekick which was hit by Carsyn Phillips. Neale Peplow took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brandon Brennan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Randall Anders sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Earnest Trezise helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Bundaberg RUMblers booed when Beachlands FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Earnest Trezise didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 78 played minutes Beachlands FC got a freekick which was hit by Edwards Millgate. Randall Anders fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Neale Peplow having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Beachlands FC's zone, Brandon Brennan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Neale Peplow came out of the goal and Brandon Brennan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Edwards Millgate fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dean Smoothy having to interfere. The Beachlands FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Beachlands FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
