Spectators: 6950 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1800, VIP seats: 150) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Justin Mcvey started the match with the kick off. When Davey Guy fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Meruthera's protests and gave Davey Guy a yellow card for diving instead. 7 minutes into the match, Irving Ross notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Meruthera's Bernie Surman. Bernie Surman was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Henry Turnor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Justin Mcvey in the 16th minute of the match. After 16 played minutes Halifax got a freekick which was hit by Boris Tencer. Justin Mcvey's late challenge caught a Halifax's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Justin Mcvey helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Meruthera's Justin Mcvey got a free kick in the 21st minute. 24 minutes into the game, Halifax's Albert Argoud nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Bernie Surman made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. In the 26th match minute, Halifax was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albert Argoud to maneuver through the defense. Davey Guy was shown his second yellow card after 29 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Davey Guy kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Albert Argoud scored 0-3 in the 30th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Bernie Surman, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 34th minute Irving Ross shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bernie Surman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Meruthera's Rodd Kinsey shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 36th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Henry Turnor but with some difficulty. Jemmett Babbage's late challenge caught a Halifax's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jemmett Babbage helped the player get up and apologised. After 48 played minutes Meruthera got a freekick which was hit by Jemmett Babbage. Brock Weller took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 49th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Bernie Surman. Meruthera's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The Meruthera players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Halifax were winning 0-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Albert Argoud to make the kick off. After 52 played minutes Halifax got a freekick which was hit by Navin Kenack. If Evan Cridland had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 65 minutes into the match, Halifax's Irving Ross sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Bernie Surman narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Albert Argoud recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 70 minutes, Irving Ross managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Halifax's supporters crossed their fingers, but Irving Ross was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Evan Cridland sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Justin Mcvey kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Bernie Surman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Albert Argoud, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Albert Argoud came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Halifax fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albert Argoud couldn't finish the play. Irving Ross received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Bernie Surman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Meruthera's Bernie Surman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Meruthera from getting a goal against them. Albert Argoud received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 97th minute. Bernie Surman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Meruthera supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Halifax's performance. The match ended with a win for Halifax.
