Spectators: 8027 (Terracing: 6022, Seating: 1846, VIP seats: 159) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Phil Gorham kicked off to start the match. Brayden Korff received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 5th minute. Neville Bostock tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Magpies's Neville Bostock played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Andrews Rummens in the 11th minute of play. Neville Bostock showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrews Rummens, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Neville Bostock took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Andrews Rummens, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 19 played minutes Magpies got a freekick which was hit by Bryson Colling. After some careless play in the Magpies defense, Brayden Korff kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Neville Bostock. The Magpies fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Neville Bostock should have stopped the shot. Andrews Rummens received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Neville Bostock tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Brayden Korff got free with Neville Bostock in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Magpies:s Neville Bostock showed great skill when he stopped Brayden Kean:s penalty. Neville Bostock made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrews Rummens in the 38th minute of play. Nero Anders made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Phil Gorham in the 41st minute of play. Kirk Delbridge recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 44th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Atherton booed when Magpies was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 49 match minutes in a wonderful position. Max Owens didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

A collision led to Atherton getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Rich Mcvicar hit a great ball. Nero Anders took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arnold Richard, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 64th match minute, Atherton was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gregg Jeavons to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 74th minute, Phil Gorham managed to get in a good position for a shot. Magpies's supporters rose to their feet, but Phil Gorham was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nero Anders breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 79th minute, Kirk Delbridge ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nero Anders was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. In the 82nd minute, Brayden Korff got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Neville Bostock showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andrews Rummens, who was totally free with the ball in the 84th minute. If Brayden Korff had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Atherton's Brayden Korff got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Magpies's zone, Brayden Korff stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Neville Bostock came out of the goal and Brayden Korff tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 98th minute, Dante Muller hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Magpies's zone, Brayden Kean stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Neville Bostock came out of the goal and Brayden Kean tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
