In the 39th minute Drew Shortus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Corey Maddern saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Rowville's zone, Ike Heathwood stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Corey Maddern came out of the goal and Ike Heathwood tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Corey Maddern showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Drew Shortus, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. A collision led to Rowville getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Christian Rutledge hit a great ball. Rowville's Corey Maddern played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Drew Shortus in the 50th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cullen Nunn was the one to do the kick off. Drew Shortus could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Corey Maddern made a huge save. Ike Heathwood spun around in front of the goal 85 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Rowville's goal. After having played for 88 minutes, Drew Shortus managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Scorpion United FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Drew Shortus was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 89 minutes into the game, one of Rowville:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Bryson Freeman walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ike Heathwood in the 93rd minute of play forced Rowville's goalkeeper Corey Maddern to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Drew Shortus sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Drew Shortus could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 99th minute of the match, but Corey Maddern made a huge save.
