Payne Hinder showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Evan Maddern, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. In the 18th minute Martyon Phasey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Payne Hinder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Howard Wirth could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Payne Hinder made a huge save. Martyon Phasey sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. PeiPei United's Howard Wirth got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 26th minute, PeiPei United's Martyon Phasey ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Payne Hinder. Payne Hinder yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. After 33 minutes, Corey Tout mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Poneke and the PeiPei United players grew even worse after the yellow card. Corey Tout kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. If Arne Prinsep had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edmonds Salcedo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Jarvis Johnson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The supporters of PeiPei United booed when Poneke was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edmonds Salcedo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Payne Hinder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Howard Wirth in the 65th minute of play. Jeffers Rowden's late challenge caught a PeiPei United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jeffers Rowden helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Poneke's Jeffers Rowden got a free kick in the 66th minute. Howard Wirth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. PeiPei United's Jarvis Johnson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmonds Salcedo in the 69th minute of play. In the 75th minute, Howard Wirth left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The PeiPei United fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. After 83 played minutes Poneke got a freekick which was hit by Nick Coldicutt. In the 84th minute of the match Peter Oshea shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Payne Hinder showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Nilson Conlin hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. Payne Hinder showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Evan Maddern in the 90th minute of the match. 91 minutes into the match, Poneke's goal looked a bit too open when Martyon Phasey came free, but Payne Hinder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Payne Hinder made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martyon Phasey in the 93rd minute of play. Poneke's supporters were dissatisfied at the end of the match because PeiPei United had won, even though Poneke had held more of the ball.
