Boyd Rutledge's late challenge caught a Gulginni's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Howard Sylvester in the 7th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Baxter Kuskoff prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 9th minute Boyd Rutledge shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Douglas Paull saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jasmine Turnor fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 15th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Douglas Paull having to interfere. Antonia Hodson's late challenge caught a Gulginni's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Antonia Hodson helped the player get up and apologised. In the 18th minute, one of Lucyvale:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Lucyvale. In the 19th minute there was a penalty for Gulginni. Brandon Warhurst stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Baxter Kuskoff. 0-1. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 23rd minute of the game. One of Lucyvale:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Gulginni:s goal. The referee gave Gulginni a penalty, 26 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Brandon Warhurst, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Lucyvale's Baxter Kuskoff. 0-2. In the 33rd minute, Hale Nelson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Baxter Kuskoff was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. Jasmine Turnor struck a weak shot in the 45th minute. Douglas Paull didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lucyvale. Cain Quinnell could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 47th minute of the match, but Douglas Paull made a huge save. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Howard Sylvester to make the kick off. Douglas Paull showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jasmine Turnor, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. After 53 played minutes Gulginni got a freekick which was hit by Clark Plummer. After having played for 58 minutes, Hale Nelson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Gulginni's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hale Nelson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 62 minutes, Earl Limmer mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Lucyvale and the Gulginni players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 62nd minute, Earl Limmer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gulginni's Howard Sylvester got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 66th minute Jasmine Turnor shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Douglas Paull saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Boyd Rutledge was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 81 minutes had been played. The supporters of Gulginni booed when Lucyvale was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Boyd Rutledge didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gulginni's Hale Nelson got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 87th minute, Hale Nelson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Hale Nelson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tom Barclay's late challenge caught a Gulginni's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tom Barclay helped the player get up and apologised. In the 96th match minute, Lucyvale was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tom Barclay to maneuver through the defense. After 97 played minutes, Gulginni's Brandon Warhurst shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Baxter Kuskoff came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Gulginni reached it. The Gulginni players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
