Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Buchanan Mcgrath in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Douglas Paull prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Howard Sylvester received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Tommy Virgin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Clark Plummer charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Gulginni's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Amos Kinsey charged in rather forcefully in the 28th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Tommy Virgin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Howard Sylvester, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. After 35 played minutes Gulginni got a freekick which was hit by Clark Plummer. 37 minutes into the match, Gulginni's goalkeeper Douglas Paull had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cliff Kreck. Buchanan Mcgrath sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 49 played minutes Buchanan Mcgrath rounded Gulginni's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Howard Sylvester stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 67th play minutes Cliff Kreck shot 2-1, a short shot which went by Douglas Paull and just under the crossbar into goal. In the 71st minute Howard Sylvester shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Virgin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Duffield booed when Gulginni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Clark Plummer didn't get a good kick on the ball.
