Arne Collins stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Russell Mudie's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. Arne Collins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Keefe Weller in the 23rd minute of play. Carmichael Phillips sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Eden Slattery made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Carmichael Phillips sent off a good shot on target. When Jordon Ambrose fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Queenstown's protests and gave Jordon Ambrose a yellow card for diving instead. Jordon Ambrose kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 31 minutes, Roger Cootes put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Eden Slattery. Arne Collins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Keefe Weller in the 37th minute of play. Keefe Weller struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. In the 42nd minute of the match Arnold Ritter sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arne Collins skillfully saved the ball. After a rather tough play, Queenstown's Arnold Ritter got a free kick in the 45th minute. A hard shot by Clarke Ward from long distance, 47 minutes into the match, got Eden Slattery's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Carmichael Phillips in the 54th minute of play forced Queenstown's goalkeeper Eden Slattery to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Roger Cootes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 57th match minute, Queenstown was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lowrey Cawthorne to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Queenstown defense, Carmichael Phillips kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eden Slattery. The Queenstown fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eden Slattery should have stopped the shot. If Russell Mudie had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kogarah Reds's Arne Collins played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Keefe Weller in the 68th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roger Cootes in the 73rd minute of play forced Queenstown's goalkeeper Eden Slattery to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Queenstown booed when Kogarah Reds was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carmichael Phillips didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 77th match minute, Queenstown was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lowrey Cawthorne to maneuver through the defense. If Carmichael Phillips had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 86 minutes, Roger Cootes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kogarah Reds's supporters crossed their fingers, but Roger Cootes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 89th minute, Queenstown's Russell Mudie dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. Arne Collins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Keefe Weller, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Kogarah Reds fans cheered their team off the field, for while Queenstown had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
