Spectators: 7722 (Terracing: 5972, Seating: 1690, VIP seats: 60) Roger Cootes made the kick off and thus started the match. After 3 played minutes Kogarah Reds got a freekick which was hit by Alvin Jobson. After some fancy dribbling in the 6th minute, Rick Luckham managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sydney Eagles's supporters rose to their feet, but Rick Luckham was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arne Collins breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 9 minutes of play, Kogarah Reds's Carmichael Phillips made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mark Butterfield was left in no man's land by his defense there! Mark Butterfield took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roger Cootes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Mark Butterfield showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roger Cootes, who was totally free with the ball in the 15th minute. Rick Luckham received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Arne Collins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Arne Waters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arne Collins having to interfere. Arne Collins made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Arne Waters in the 24th minute of play. Clay Boserio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Arne Collins having to interfere. Kogarah Reds's Roger Cootes got a good chance for a goal in the 33rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Sydney Eagles's Bernie Staworowski got a free kick in the 38th minute. Mark Butterfield showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carmichael Phillips in the 39th minute of the match. Carmichael Phillips received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Mark Butterfield tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 43rd minute, Kyle Kuskop hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Arne Waters made a kick off. Carmichael Phillips sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Sydney Eagles's Mark Butterfield played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roger Cootes in the 60th minute of play. In the 61st minute Roger Cootes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mark Butterfield saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Carmichael Phillips had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Roger Cootes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Mark Butterfield was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. After a defensive mix-up in Sydney Eagles's zone, Carmichael Phillips stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Mark Butterfield came out of the goal and Carmichael Phillips tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Carmichael Phillips came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Kogarah Reds fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carmichael Phillips couldn't finish the play. Mark Butterfield made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roger Cootes in the 81st minute of play. Kogarah Reds:s Arne Collins showed great skill when he stopped Bob Pearson:s penalty. Arne Collins came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Sydney Eagles's Bob Pearson. But to his dismay, Bob Pearson quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Mark Butterfield showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roger Cootes in the 91st minute of the match. Carmichael Phillips kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. Kogarah Reds's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
