Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Larry Crampton got the match started through his kick off. If Bray Cubitt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bryan Favas hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. In the 7th minute, Bryan Favas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Artie Ross charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Artie Ross the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 8 played minutes Melbourne City got a freekick which was hit by Artie Ross. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Michael Soekirno managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ellam's supporters rose to their feet, but Michael Soekirno was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mitchell Mcquoid breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Ellam's Doyle Newton played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bray Cubitt in the 14th minute of play. The corner led to Melbourne City's Fabrizio Pike getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Payne Plummer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doyle Newton having to interfere. Michael Soekirno could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Mitchell Mcquoid made a huge save. Payne Plummer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Doyle Newton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bryan Favas hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Damon Gronow charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Damon Gronow the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Ellam getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Damon Gronow hit a great ball. With a little luck, Melbourne City's Mitchell Mcquoid got control of the ball when Bryan Favas tried to sneak it across the goal line. Larry Crampton received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Mitchell Mcquoid tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 45th minute, Fabrizio Pike got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Ellam players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Melbourne City were winning 0-2.

Bray Cubitt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 54th minute, Payne Plummer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Doyle Newton made a fantastic save in the 56th minute, when Payne Plummer sent off a good shot on target. With 61 minutes on the clock, Blake Orvad commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In the 62nd match minute, Melbourne City was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Blake Orvad to maneuver through the defense. In the 63rd minute of the match Dakota Day shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Mitchell Mcquoid showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Ellam's Doyle Newton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 67th minute of the match, managed to save Ellam from getting a goal against them. Bray Cubitt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 71st minute of the match, but Doyle Newton made a huge save. In the 84thth minute of the game Larry Crampton who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Melbourne City's Mitchell Mcquoid was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Melbourne City booed when Ellam was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 86 match minutes in a wonderful position. Belton Heberle didn't get a good kick on the ball. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 89th minute, but Doyle Newton got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Ellam hanging dry this time. Melbourne City were awarded a corner in the 91th minute after Ellam's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Jordon Carlisle took the corner. The corner ended in Jordon Carlisle almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Ellam's Doyle Newton did a great save. Melbourne City played a much better game than Ellam and deserved their victory. The Ellam players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
