Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Corey Wilde started the match with the kick off. Melbourne City's Fabrizio Pike got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bray Cubitt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Bray Cubitt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bray Cubitt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Bray Cubitt hit a great freekick 22 minutes into the match. Payne Plummer kicked well hit freekick during the 25th minute of the match. 28 minutes into the game, Bray Cubitt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Russ Macumber was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Payne Plummer came up free with the goalie in the 31st minute, the Melbourne City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Payne Plummer couldn't finish the play. When Ian Jeffress fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Melbourne City's protests and gave Ian Jeffress a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 34th minute of the game. One of Melbourne City:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Millfield:s goal. Steve Adamson walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. Ian Jeffress took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 39th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Russ Macumber. Millfield's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. After 42 played minutes Melbourne City got a freekick which was hit by Artie Ross. When Corey Wilde came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Millfield fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Corey Wilde couldn't finish the play. After the first half Melbourne City were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bray Cubitt made a kick off. Calvin Meyers hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. 54 minutes into the match, Millfield's Steve Adamson broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Russ Macumber showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabrizio Pike, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. If Max Whitmore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bray Cubitt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Russ Macumber showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Payne Plummer in the 84th minute of the match. 93 minutes into the match, Millfield's goal looked a bit too open when Bray Cubitt came free, but Russ Macumber reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 95 played minutes Bray Cubitt rounded Millfield's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 0-5. The Millfield supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Melbourne City's performance. The match ended with a win for Melbourne City.
