Kahibah's Kay Possov played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabrizio Pike in the 10th minute of play. Kay Possov didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Melbourne City's Bray Cubitt shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-0 in the ordered_time% minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Larry Notley got free with Kay Possov in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Melbourne City booed when Kahibah was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 18 match minutes in a wonderful position. Isidro Delfino didn't get a good kick on the ball. Through an outstanding action, after 20 minutes, Kay Possov successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 21st minute of the game. One of Melbourne City:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Kahibah:s goal. Mitchell Mcquoid went to the wrong direction when Buchanan Laws was taking care of the penalty kick which however missed the goal. Edmonds Day received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Mitchell Mcquoid tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 33 minutes, Payne Plummer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Melbourne City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Payne Plummer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Neil Lambourne in the 37th minute of play forced Melbourne City's goalkeeper Mitchell Mcquoid to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Neil Lambourne came up free with the goalie in the 39th minute, the Kahibah fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Neil Lambourne couldn't finish the play. In the 43rd minute, Isidro Delfino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Kay Possov was a little too slow when Bray Cubitt got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 46th minute. The score was now 2-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bray Cubitt to make the kick off. Bray Cubitt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Kay Possov tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 55th match minute, Kahibah was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Neil Lambourne to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bray Cubitt in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kay Possov saved Kahibah from getting behind. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Norman Obrien during the 59th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 59th match minute, Kahibah was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Norman Obrien to maneuver through the defense. 60 minutes into the match, Kahibah's goal looked a bit too open when Bray Cubitt came free, but Kay Possov reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Payne Plummer struck a weak shot in the 61st minute. Kay Possov didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Melbourne City. In the 62nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Kahibah's goalkeeper Kay Possov, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 62 minutes into the game, Bray Cubitt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-0. Kay Possov was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Neil Lambourne fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mitchell Mcquoid having to interfere. Kay Possov came out of the goal in the 79th minute to try and stop a shot by Melbourne City's Bray Cubitt. But to his dismay, Bray Cubitt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-0. The audience was convinced that Bray Cubitt's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kay Possov was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. If Neil Lambourne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Payne Plummer in the 94th minute of play forced Kahibah's goalkeeper Kay Possov to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dwight Phasey lost his temper 95 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Dwight Phasey hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. When Blake Orvad came up free with the goalie in the 97th minute, the Melbourne City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Blake Orvad couldn't finish the play. Kahibah's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
