Bray Cubitt blasted a shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fletcher Sylvester having to make a save. After having played for 18 minutes, Bray Cubitt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Melbourne City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bray Cubitt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Parker Magrath might have been able to make a better finish in the 23rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mitchell Mcquoid. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Parker Magrath ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the Melbourne City defense, Parker Magrath kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mitchell Mcquoid. The Melbourne City fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mitchell Mcquoid should have stopped the shot. If Fabrizio Pike had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Artie Ross struck a weak shot in the 30th minute. Fletcher Sylvester didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Melbourne City. In the 33rd minute, Hale Mcroberts sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Melbourne City's Mitchell Mcquoid didn't even have to move. When Bray Cubitt fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Melbourne City's protests and gave Bray Cubitt a yellow card for diving instead. When the match had gone on for 37 minutes, Bray Cubitt took a quick shot and it went in 3-1 without a chance for Fletcher Sylvester to make any attempt to save it. 43 minutes into the game, Bray Cubitt recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Fletcher Sylvester. Bray Cubitt showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 4-1. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 45th minute of the game. One of Arka Gdynia:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Melbourne City:s goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Bryanne Bailey in the 58th minute of play forced Arka Gdynia's goalkeeper Fletcher Sylvester to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Arka Gdynia getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Parker Magrath hit a great ball. Fletcher Sylvester didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Payne Plummer went, in the 62nd minute, to the upper right corner, 6-1 was the resulting score. Arka Gdynia's Brice Renny got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Fletcher Sylvester showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Payne Plummer in the 73rd minute of the match. After 73 played minutes Arka Gdynia got a freekick which was hit by Craig Favas. After some careless play in the Arka Gdynia defense, Bray Cubitt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fletcher Sylvester. The Arka Gdynia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fletcher Sylvester should have stopped the shot. Casper Tarrant received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. Fletcher Sylvester tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Mitchell Mcquoid was out of position in the 85 minute of play, and Brice Renny capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Brice Renny really showed his touch with that goal: 7-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Craig Favas got free with Mitchell Mcquoid in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 92nd minute, Fabrizio Pike left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Melbourne City fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 8-2. A collision led to Arka Gdynia getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Dario Markou hit a great ball. 96 minutes into the match, Arka Gdynia's goal looked a bit too open when Blake Orvad came free, but Fletcher Sylvester reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fletcher Sylvester took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bray Cubitt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Melbourne City walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
