The referee ignored Red Devils United's protests and gave Jacobs Gracey a yellow card for diving instead. After 11 played minutes Red Devils United got a freekick which was hit by Jacobs Gracey. Roy Mudie scored 1-0 in the 17th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ike Pinhey, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Barnes Hunter showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jacob Wakefield, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. 26 minutes into the match, Red Devils United's goal looked a bit too open when Darrell Sanderson came free, but Barnes Hunter reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ike Pinhey made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bern Pears in the 28th minute. If Jacob Wakefield had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 33rd minute, Raymond James reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ike Pinhey. The goal made the score 2-0. Jacob Wakefield's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Barnes Hunter read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 38th minute of play. Jacob Wakefield received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Barnes Hunter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Bern Pears got free with Ike Pinhey in the 48th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Ike Pinhey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bern Pears, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bern Pears sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bruno Arkinstall hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. Potter Reynolds's late challenge caught a Red Devils United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Potter Reynolds helped the player get up and apologised. Bern Pears sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Raymond James managed to get in a good position for a shot. Red Devils United's supporters rose to their feet, but Raymond James was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ike Pinhey breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 73rd match minute, Skoolage United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cornelius Nunn to maneuver through the defense.
