Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The mood of the audience was pleasant when Biggs Peterson made the kick off which started today's match. 6 minutes into the game, AFC Sutherland's Biggs Peterson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Doyle Cusbert made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Pete Carbery received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Charles Mcgrath tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edward Veitch recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. AFC Sutherland's Charles Mcgrath played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Pete Carbery in the 16th minute of play. Biggs Peterson was extremely unlucky when he, in the 18th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. With a little luck, Bankstown's Doyle Cusbert got control of the ball when Milton Harding tried to sneak it across the goal line. Biggs Peterson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Doyle Cusbert tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Milton Harding who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 34thth minute tested the skills of Doyle Cusbert when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Pete Carbery in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Charles Mcgrath prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 38 played minutes AFC Sutherland got a freekick which was hit by Ryan Kaine. 39 minutes into the match, Bankstown's Paco Alcock broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. In the 42nd minute of the match Ryan Kaine shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Doyle Cusbert showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edward Veitch got free with Doyle Cusbert in the 46th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

In the 53rd minute Barry Malacarne shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Doyle Cusbert saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pete Carbery sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to AFC Sutherland getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Barry Malacarne hit a great ball. 66 minutes into the match, Bankstown's goal looked a bit too open when Biggs Peterson came free, but Doyle Cusbert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Pete Carbery had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 73 played minutes AFC Sutherland got a freekick which was hit by Barry Malacarne. Doyle Cusbert made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barry Malacarne in the 77th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edward Veitch in the 83rd minute of play forced Bankstown's goalkeeper Doyle Cusbert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 88 minutes into the match, Bankstown's goal looked a bit too open when Biggs Peterson came free, but Doyle Cusbert reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 89th minute, Edward Veitch hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Doyle Cusbert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Biggs Peterson, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. The AFC Sutherland players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
