The supporters of Inter Wodonga booed when Poonarunna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Richard Diefenbach didn't get a good kick on the ball. Poonarunna's Andres King played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alex Kinsey in the 13th minute of play. A collision led to Inter Wodonga getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Bleyd Hamilton hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angelo Hunn in the 20th minute of play forced Inter Wodonga's goalkeeper Danny Devere to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Poonarunna booed when Inter Wodonga was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jessop Cubit didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Poonarunna's Andres King got control of the ball when Alex Kinsey tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 28th match minute, Poonarunna was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tiger Schonke to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Boyce Worsley during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Danny Devere didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Angelo Hunn went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Andres King was out of position in the 47 minute of play, and Biggs Perandis capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Biggs Perandis really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

Poonarunna's Andres King played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alex Kinsey in the 53rd minute of play. In the 64th minute Alex Kinsey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andres King saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Poonarunna's zone, Alex Kinsey stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andres King came out of the goal and Alex Kinsey tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Poonarunna's Andres King played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alex Kinsey in the 69th minute of play. In the 70th minute Biggs Perandis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andres King saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Richard Diefenbach charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Richard Diefenbach the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 72 played minutes Poonarunna got a freekick which was hit by Richard Diefenbach. An unexpectedly hard shot by Biggs Perandis in the 75th minute of play forced Poonarunna's goalkeeper Andres King to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Andres King made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alex Kinsey in the 76th minute of play. Inter Wodonga's Bleyd Hamilton got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 88 minutes into the match, Poonarunna's goal looked a bit too open when Alex Kinsey came free, but Andres King reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the referee blew the final whistle, Inter Wodonga could leave the field as winners, despite Poonarunna having more of the ball for most of the match.
