Spectators: 8452 (Terracing: 6340, Seating: 1943, VIP seats: 169) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Ellis Hoskin got the match started through his kick off. In the 3rd minute Boyde Renny shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Randell Malacarne saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 4 minutes into the game, Murphey Muddle recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Reese Czaczka. Murphey Muddle showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Through an outstanding action, after 12 minutes, Reese Czaczka successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 14th minute, Glenferrie's Ace Carnduff seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Ace Carnduff the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Glenferrie protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Ace Carnduff had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Randell Malacarne took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ellis Hoskin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 23 minutes, Carmichael Cootes mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Glenferrie and the Finley players grew even worse after the yellow card. Carmichael Cootes kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. In the 28thth minute of the game Murphey Muddle who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Finley's Reese Czaczka was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 32 minutes into the game, Randall Smee was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Finley's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Glenferrie the free kick. In the 32nd match minute, Finley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Randall Smee to maneuver through the defense. Murphey Muddle struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Reese Czaczka didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Glenferrie. An unexpectedly hard shot by Braedan Paull in the 35th minute of play forced Finley's goalkeeper Reese Czaczka to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Finley getting a freekick after 35 minutes play. Jonathan Harding hit a great ball. 40 minutes into the match, Glenferrie's goal looked a bit too open when Ellis Hoskin came free, but Randell Malacarne reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Reese Czaczka stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Murphey Muddle's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Murphey Muddle to make the kick off. Boyde Renny could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 55th minute of the match, but Randell Malacarne made a huge save. Boyde Renny scored 1-3 in the 92nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Randell Malacarne, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 95 minutes into the match, Finley's goal looked a bit too open when Murphey Muddle came free, but Reese Czaczka reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Finley had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
