Danny Devere showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Porter Simpson, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. In the 21st minute Porter Simpson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Danny Devere saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Inter Wodonga getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Biggs Perandis hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Porter Simpson in the 24th minute of play forced Inter Wodonga's goalkeeper Danny Devere to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 25th minute, Boyce Worsley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Inter Wodonga booed when Crimson Eagles FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 26 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jones Addison didn't get a good kick on the ball. Connor Vaughan hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Porter Simpson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Danny Devere made a huge save. Brennan Reynolds fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lawrance Shorten having to interfere. 40 minutes into the game, Porter Simpson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-0. Danny Devere was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Kinsey in the 44th minute of play forced Crimson Eagles FC's goalkeeper Lawrance Shorten to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Porter Simpson to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 51st minute Porter Simpson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Danny Devere saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jones Addison sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jones Addison recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 61st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 66th minute Jones Addison shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Danny Devere saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alex Kinseys short, quick shot in the 73rdth minute got Lawrance Shorten to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. With a little luck, Crimson Eagles FC's Lawrance Shorten got control of the ball when Alex Kinsey tried to sneak it across the goal line. A hard shot 80 in the game by Alex Kinsey from a close distance when the talented Lawrance Shorten managed to make a qualified save. Crimson Eagles FC's players were relieved. Abraham Johnston charged in rather forcefully in the 82nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Abraham Johnston the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Lawrance Shorten acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 83rd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Bleyd Hamilton. Boyce Worsley kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. After having played for 97 minutes, Porter Simpson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Crimson Eagles FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Porter Simpson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Crimson Eagles FC had played much better football throughout.
