In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind Melbourne City FC's goalkeeper Buck Leydin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hunterton's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Bill Crane in the 12th minute. A well-hit corner resulted in Edgar Brading heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. When Bill Crane came up free with the goalie in the 14th minute, the Hunterton fans jumped to their feet. Melbourne City FC's attentive Howard Pack managed to snatch the ball when Reginald Cawthorne made a throw-in in the 17th minute of the game. Benny King kicked well hit freekick during the 21st minute of the match. When Bishop Quinane fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Melbourne City FC's protests and gave Bishop Quinane a yellow card for diving instead. Bishop Quinane kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Duffield Crawford could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 63rd minute of the match, but Buck Leydin made a huge save. If Bill Crane had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Buck Leydin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hunterton. Melbourne City FC's Buck Leydin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bill Crane in the 97th minute of play. Hunterton were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
