Ray Williams's late challenge caught a Melbourne City FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ray Williams helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Selby FC's Ray Williams got a free kick in the 16th minute. Buck Leydin came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Selby FC's Martin Quelch. But to his dismay, Martin Quelch quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. In the 21st minute, Bo Renny made a precise shot to the right of Buck Leydin. Melbourne City FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Bo Renny sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bo Renny in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Buck Leydin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Drew Caddick fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jenkins Kuskopf having to interfere. Buck Leydin was a little too slow when Martin Quelch got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 34th minute. The score was now 4-0. 38 minutes into the match, Melbourne City FC's goal looked a bit too open when Bo Renny came free, but Buck Leydin reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Buck Leydin didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bo Renny went, in the 38th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-0 was the resulting score. When Bo Renny came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the Selby FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bo Renny couldn't finish the play. Martin Quelch could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Buck Leydin made a huge save. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 5-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bo Renny stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Boyd Gaffigan during the 51st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The audience was convinced that Bo Renny's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Buck Leydin was relentless in the 53rd minute of the game. Buck Leydin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Bo Renny's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. Bo Renny sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bo Renny received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Buck Leydin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Melbourne City FC's zone, Bo Renny stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Buck Leydin came out of the goal and Bo Renny tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Martin Quelch came up free with the goalie in the 77th minute, the Selby FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martin Quelch couldn't finish the play. Buck Leydin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dante Brennan in the 84th minute of the match. The corner led Selby FC's Martin Quelch to fire away a dangerous shot which Buck Leydin despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After having played for 88 minutes, Martin Quelch managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Selby FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Martin Quelch was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Selby FC's Bo Renny got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rafa Cabral during the 93rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Rafa Cabral hit a great freekick 94 minutes into the match. Buck Leydin showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bo Renny in the 96th minute of the match. Selby FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
