The player immediately received a yellow card. Cod Duncan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 6th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 8 played minutes Malbina got a freekick which was hit by Lance Mcinnes. Ronald Parryman made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rafa Cabral in the 9th minute. A collision led to Melbourne City FC getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Barnabas Mueller hit a great ball. Buck Leydin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cod Duncan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 16 minutes, Biddle Pickhills mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Melbourne City FC and the Malbina players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 16 played minutes Melbourne City FC got a freekick which was hit by Biddle Pickhills. Buck Leydin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cod Duncan in the 19th minute of play. Dacosta Bodimeade's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Buck Leydin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. Melbourne City FC's Buck Leydin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dacosta Bodimeade in the 45th minute of play. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Cod Duncan to strike the kick off in the second half. Buck Leydin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Malbina's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
