After 15 minutes, Navin Borserio mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Caringbah and the Southgate players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 13th minute, one of Caringbah:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Caringbah. The supporters of Southgate booed when Caringbah was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Antony Schonke didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21st minute, Brooker Teuma made a precise shot to the right of Lorimer Gissane. Caringbah's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Brooker Teuma in the 26th minute of play forced Caringbah's goalkeeper Lorimer Gissane to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lorimer Gissane made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernie Aroege in the 28th minute of play. Bernie Aroege took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Lorimer Gissane. Lorimer Gissane dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Lorimer Gissane made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brooker Teuma in the 35th minute of play. Lorimer Gissane showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bernie Aroege in the 39th minute of the match. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Brooker Teuma stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes of play, Southgate's Bernie Aroege made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Lorimer Gissane was left in no man's land by his defense there! Bernie Aroege recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Murdock Crane took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bart Ludwick, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lorimer Gissane was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Brooker Teuma showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-5 in the 62 minute of play. If Bernie Aroege had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Southgate's Kale Monson quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Carlos Gannan, made in the 70th minute of the game. Lorimer Gissane showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brooker Teuma, who was totally free with the ball in the 71st minute. If Brooker Teuma had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Brooker Teuma came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Southgate fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Brooker Teuma couldn't finish the play. The audience was convinced that Brooker Teuma's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lorimer Gissane was relentless in the 87th minute of the game. Caringbah's Lorimer Gissane proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Caringbah from getting a goal against them. After some careless play in the Caringbah defense, Bernie Aroege kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lorimer Gissane. The Caringbah fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lorimer Gissane should have stopped the shot. The Caringbah fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Southgate were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
