The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Downing Beverly sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 5 minutes, Art Schulze managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Wellington Phoenix's supporters crossed their fingers, but Art Schulze was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wellington Phoenix's Curtis Hilton got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Crawford Sugden struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Jared Hunter didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wellington Phoenix. After 12 minutes of play, Wellington Phoenix's Art Schulze made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jared Hunter was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Art Schulze had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Curtis Hilton might have been able to make a better finish in the 17th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jared Hunter. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Curtis Hilton ran back to his position shaking his head. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Curtis Hilton in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jared Hunter saved Woodbury from getting behind. Art Schulze scored 0-2 in the 19th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jared Hunter, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience was convinced that Art Schulze's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jared Hunter was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. Jared Hunter came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by Wellington Phoenix's Art Schulze. But to his dismay, Art Schulze quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. After 27 minutes, Crawford Sugden mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Wellington Phoenix and the Woodbury players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Wellington Phoenix's Crawford Sugden got a free kick in the 27th minute. 31 minutes into the game, Wellington Phoenix's Art Schulze nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jared Hunter made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. Art Schulze sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wellington Phoenix's Curtis Hilton got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jared Hunter didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Art Schulze went, in the 36th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-6 was the resulting score. Jared Hunter came out of the goal in the 39th minute to try and stop a shot by Wellington Phoenix's Art Schulze. But to his dismay, Art Schulze quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-7. In the 43rd minute, Art Schulze left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Wellington Phoenix fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-8. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-9 lead.

Woodbury's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Art Schulze was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-10. Jared Hunter made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Art Schulze in the 54th minute of play. A collision led to Woodbury getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Brendon Stafford hit a great ball. After having played for 58 minutes, Damon Voller managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. In the 60th minute Art Schulze shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jared Hunter saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 62nd minute, Art Schulze got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 64th minute, Carson Ceney reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jared Hunter. The goal made the score 0-11. After 67 minutes of play, Wellington Phoenix's Art Schulze made it 0-12 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jared Hunter dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-13. Art Schulze fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jared Hunter having to interfere. Curtis Hilton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jared Hunter having to interfere. Woodbury's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Art Schulze 81 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-14. In the 84th minute, Art Schulze got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Andrews Houldsworth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute. Jared Hunter tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 91st minute, Art Schulze reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jared Hunter. The goal made the score 0-15. Wellington Phoenix's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
