In the 10th minute Cai Inestrosa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dale Gracey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Southern Thrashers's Eliot Pfingst played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rick Quinane in the 12th minute of play. Rick Quinane could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Eliot Pfingst made a huge save. Dan Cubitt kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Stan Mackney might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Eliot Pfingst. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out.
