In the 24th minute Steven Chaptal shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antony Coignet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Christian Kerville came out of the goal and Cullen Owen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Cullen Owen's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Christian Kerville was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. In the 66thth minute of the game Cullen Owen who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Elderslie Magpies's Christian Kerville was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 68 minutes had been played when some careless play by PavelT's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Rick Souness was slow to take the kick. During this time Elderslie Magpies's players had a chance to rest. Elderslie Magpies's Ovidio Etxekopar was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Antony Coignet in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Cornelius Brooks could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 70th minute of the match, but Christian Kerville made a huge save. After having played for 71 minutes, Neal Weatherby managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Elderslie Magpies's supporters crossed their fingers, but Neal Weatherby was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.
