Australian Youth Academy's Keylor Navas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abbas Ağayarov in the 16th minute of play. 19 minutes into the match, Australian Youth Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Abbas Ağayarov came free, but Keylor Navas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 20 minutes into the match, Ellis Hoskin notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Abbotsford FC's Lei Wei Lin. Lei Wei Lin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 23rd match minute, Australian Youth Academy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ellis Hoskin to maneuver through the defense. Denny Commons who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 32ndth minute tested the skills of Keylor Navas when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Denny Commons did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-2 to the left of a surprised Keylor Navas 32 minutes into the match. Australian Youth Academy's Keylor Navas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 36th minute of the match, managed to save Australian Youth Academy from getting a goal against them. 38 minutes into the match, Australian Youth Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Denny Commons came free, but Keylor Navas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Keylor Navas made a fantastic save in the 39th minute, when Denny Commons sent off a good shot on target. Garth Brough's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Lei Wei Lin read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. Abbotsford FC's Lei Wei Lin played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Garth Brough in the 47th minute of play. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Denny Commons made a kick off. A collision led to Abbotsford FC getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Keylor Navas stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Denny Commons's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. Lei Wei Lin made a fantastic save in the 71st minute, when Garth Brough sent off a good shot on target. 74 minutes into the match, Australian Youth Academy's Garth Brough sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Lei Wei Lin narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 88th minute, Garth Brough got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
