Manly FC's Duncan Mcinnes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gabriel Martini in the 4th minute of play. In the 5th minute Australian Youth Academy were awarded a corner. Rufus Roach went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led Australian Youth Academy's Ellis Hoskin to fire away a dangerous shot which Duncan Mcinnes despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Mo Salah took the ball and in the 10 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Keylor Navas. Keylor Navas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Keylor Navas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mo Salah in the 21st minute of play. In the 22nd minute, John Aldridge hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Australian Youth Academy booed when Manly FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Irving Bonnison didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Garth Brough in the 29th minute of play forced Manly FC's goalkeeper Duncan Mcinnes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 32ndth minute of the game Garth Brough who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Manly FC's Duncan Mcinnes was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mo Salah in the 34th minute of play forced Australian Youth Academy's goalkeeper Keylor Navas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Duncan Mcinnes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Garth Brough in the 38th minute of the match. Garth Brough fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Duncan Mcinnes having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Garth Brough to make the kick off. Fletcher Baba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Duncan Mcinnes having to interfere. In the 59th minute Ellis Hoskin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Duncan Mcinnes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Duncan Mcinnes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Garth Brough, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. When Garth Brough came up free with the goalie in the 66th minute, the Australian Youth Academy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Garth Brough couldn't finish the play. Keylor Navas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nilson Snabl in the 68th minute of the match. In the 72nd minute Garth Brough shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Duncan Mcinnes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 75th minute, Nilson Snabl ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Keylor Navas was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 84th minute Fletcher Baba shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Duncan Mcinnes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 90th minute, John Aldridge ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Keylor Navas was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. 95 minutes into the game, Ellis Hoskin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Duncan Mcinnes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Manly FC walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
