Danijel Subašić made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manolo Bacete in the 19th minute of play. In the 20th minute of the match A.D. Alcorcón got a corner. Esmeralda AFC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Leroy Antunez ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Esmeralda AFC's goalkeeper Danijel Subašić, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 34th minute Manolo Bacete shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Danijel Subašić saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A.D. Alcorcón's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Leroy Antunez in the 36th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Belo Alvarez to make the kick off.
