The audience was convinced that Casimiro Ugutz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Serafino Jurdan was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. Vicky Donda yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. 23 minutes into the match, Nouvelle Vague's goal looked a bit too open when André-Pierre Gignac came free, but Vicky Donda reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 26 minutes into the match, Newells Old Boys's goal looked a bit too open when Casimiro Ugutz came free, but Serafino Jurdan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Serafino Jurdan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Casimiro Ugutz in the 29th minute of play. After 37 minutes of play, Nouvelle Vague's Casimiro Ugutz made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Serafino Jurdan was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Casimiro Ugutz in the 40th minute of play forced Newells Old Boys's goalkeeper Serafino Jurdan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Adan Chinto during the 40th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Newells Old Boys's Adan Chinto got a free kick in the 40th minute. Serafino Jurdan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Casimiro Ugutz in the 43rd minute of the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Silverio Tuste stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Newells Old Boys getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Adan Chinto hit a great ball. Serafino Jurdan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Casimiro Ugutz, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. André-Pierre Gignac sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Nouvelle Vague booed when Newells Old Boys was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 62 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomas Itzaina didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silverio Tuste in the 69th minute of play forced Nouvelle Vague's goalkeeper Vicky Donda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Paulo Renato Corrêa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Serafino Jurdan having to make a save. Vicky Donda came out of the goal in the 81st minute to try and stop a shot by Newells Old Boys's Silverio Tuste. But to his dismay, Silverio Tuste quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Luis Henrico could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 85th minute of the match, but Serafino Jurdan made a huge save. Luis Henrico blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Serafino Jurdan having to make a save. With an all-out effort, Nouvelle Vague's Serafino Jurdan threw himself towards the right post 87 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luis Henrico, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Luis Henrico blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Serafino Jurdan having to make a save. In the 93rd minute, Luis Henrico made a precise shot to the right of Serafino Jurdan. Newells Old Boys's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. In the 97th minute André-Pierre Gignac shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vicky Donda saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Newells Old Boys were awarded a corner in the 99th minute after Nouvelle Vague's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Elias Medeiros took the corner.
