Santos FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Brooklyn SC the free kick. The ball had pretty good speed, but Osvaldo Cadena firmly grabbed it by the left post. Rusty Little made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Randall Haynes in the 59th minute of play. Randall Haynes's late challenge caught a Santos FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. In the 65th match minute, Brooklyn SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jon Smith to maneuver through the defense.
