Rusty Deering showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Milton Heath in the 16th minute of the match. Rusty Deering made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jamar Burton in the 18th minute of play. Santos FC's Rusty Little played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lewis Light in the 20th minute of play. In the 22nd match minute, ForestFire was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ernest Chester to maneuver through the defense. In the 24th minute, Aurelio Parrish hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jamar Maxwell's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rusty Deering read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 25th minute of play. When ForestFire's Cyrus Keys in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Santos FC's goalie prevented a goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Santos FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cyrus Keys was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. Rusty Little was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
