Santos FC's attentive Mike Richardson managed to snatch the ball when Wilfred Noel made a throw-in in the 2nd minute of the game. Lanny Gilmore made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 3rdth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Wilbur Hyde would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. Santos FC were awarded a corner in the 5th minute after El Canalla de Chicago's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Warren Ruiz took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Lanny Gilmore managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. A hard shot 9 in the game by Lanny Gilmore from a close distance when the talented Wilbur Hyde managed to make a qualified save. El Canalla de Chicago's players were relieved. Tyron Velasquez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Wilbur Hyde tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 12 minutes, Lanny Gilmore put it in 1-0 from a short distance just to the right of Wilbur Hyde. In the 15th match minute, El Canalla de Chicago was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilfred Noel to maneuver through the defense. If Lanny Gilmore had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Tyron Velasquez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wilbur Hyde was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. El Canalla de Chicago's Wilbur Hyde played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tyron Velasquez in the 21st minute of play. 22 minutes had been played when some careless play by El Canalla de Chicago's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Warren Ruiz was slow to take the kick. During this time Santos FC's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Cesar Small almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but El Canalla de Chicago's Wilbur Hyde did a great save. Tyron Velasquez did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 2-0 to the left of a surprised Wilbur Hyde 27 minutes into the match. Lanny Gilmore fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilbur Hyde having to interfere. Wilbur Hyde made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tyron Velasquez in the 32nd minute of play. In the 36th minute Tyron Velasquez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilbur Hyde saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to El Canalla de Chicago getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Wilfred Noel hit a great ball. Wilbur Hyde made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lanny Gilmore in the 46th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lanny Gilmore stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Joaquim Vilar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, El Canalla de Chicago's Wilfred Noel got a free kick in the 62nd minute. El Canalla de Chicago's Justin Raines was substituted for Hugo Hubbard. A collision led to El Canalla de Chicago getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Wilfred Noel hit a great ball. After 67 minutes, Lanny Gilmore made it 3-0 with a short kick to the right side. El Canalla de Chicago's Wilbur Hyde tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. El Canalla de Chicago's Armando Leobardo was substituted for Claude Mueller. Thanks to some nice moves Justin Raines could shoot a difficult shot in the 73rd minute, which Aaron Smallwood however easily saved by the left post. The Santos FC fans' excitement grew in the 75th match minute when Santos FC's Lanny Gilmore looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Lanny Gilmore received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 77th minute. Wilbur Hyde tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Aaron Smallwood made a fantastic save in the 80th minute, when Joaquim Vilar sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lanny Gilmore in the 84th minute of play forced El Canalla de Chicago's goalkeeper Wilbur Hyde to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wilbur Hyde made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lanny Gilmore in the 85th minute of play. Justin Raines blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Aaron Smallwood having to make a save. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Santos FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while El Canalla de Chicago had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
