Fabrizio Pugliese took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Philip van der Sar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Aldo Santagata sent away a hard shot on goal in the 5th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Diego Pierdomenico took the ball and in the 8 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ate Kik. Fabrizio Pugliese was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 19th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Alfred Tevreden. A collision led to Meliestraat SC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Michel Siepel hit a great ball. Godfried van Driest kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. San Vito's Fabrizio Pugliese played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hendrik-Jan Haken in the 30th minute of play. In the 31stth minute of the game Aldo Santagata who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Meliestraat SC's Ate Kik was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Godfried van Driest took the ball and in the 37 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Fabrizio Pugliese. Fabrizio Pugliese dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After a rather tough play, Meliestraat SC's Jan-Willem Scholte got a free kick in the 44th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
If Diego Pierdomenico had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Fabio Silvagni during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Fabrizio Pugliese showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Godfried van Driest, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. If Hendrik-Jan Haken had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 89th minute Godfried van Driest shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabrizio Pugliese saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Godfried van Driest in the 93rd minute of play forced San Vito's goalkeeper Fabrizio Pugliese to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Godfried van Driest sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. San Vito's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
