After a rather tough play, SC Valdujo's Higino Malta got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Călin Ungheanu acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 6th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Juvenal Lima. After a rather tough play, Horus's Eusebiu Zdrehuş got a free kick in the 9th minute. Flávio Dantas might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Călin Ungheanu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Flávio Dantas ran back to his position shaking his head. Edgar Grigoriu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Maurício Mansilha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 13th minute of play. Edgar Grigoriu struck a weak shot in the 16th minute. Maurício Mansilha didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Horus. Edgar Grigoriu fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maurício Mansilha having to interfere. Maurício Mansilha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mihăiţă Hurezeanu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. SC Valdujo's Maurício Mansilha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edgar Grigoriu in the 32nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in SC Valdujo's zone, Edgar Grigoriu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Maurício Mansilha came out of the goal and Edgar Grigoriu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 46th minute, Flávio Dantas managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Valdujo's supporters rose to their feet, but Flávio Dantas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Călin Ungheanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

In the 52nd minute, Mircea Cămărășan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 54th minute Juvenal Lima shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Călin Ungheanu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mihăiţă Hurezeanu in the 59th minute of play forced SC Valdujo's goalkeeper Maurício Mansilha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Horus's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Corneliu Encuțu in the 60th minute. A nice corner shot did that Edgar Grigoriu got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Maurício Mansilha quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 63 minutes into the match, Flávio Dantas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Călin Ungheanu. Horus's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Flávio Dantas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. If Mihăiţă Hurezeanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eusebiu Zdrehuş's late challenge caught a SC Valdujo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Eusebiu Zdrehuş helped the player get up and apologised. When Máximo Quental was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 75 minutes had been played. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 97 played minutes SC Valdujo got a freekick which was hit by Higino Malta. Horus's Corneliu Encuțu shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 98th minute of play. The shot was stopped by Maurício Mansilha but with some difficulty. Horus's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
