An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 5th minute of play forced Despidida AFC's goalkeeper Fernando Selatse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 20 minutes into the match, Hertha 1969's goal looked a bit too open when Alvaro Raymond came free, but Rune Jarstein reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Hertha 1969's zone, Alvaro Raymond stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rune Jarstein came out of the goal and Alvaro Raymond tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fernando Selatse showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Paulo da Silva, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. In the 26th minute Zé Paulo da Silva shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernando Selatse saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 33 minutes into the game, Wilhelm Nienhaus cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Fernando Selatse was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wilhelm Nienhaus in the 36th minute of play forced Despidida AFC's goalkeeper Fernando Selatse to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 38 minutes into the match, Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alvaro Raymond. In the 41st minute, Alvaro Raymond ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Rune Jarstein was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Cain Velasquez hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. It was beautiful to see Hertha 1969's Moritz Hasenjäger in action when he in the 45th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Wilhelm Nienhaus stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Fernando Selatse made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gigel Elenescu in the 51st minute of play. 52 minutes into the match, Despidida AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Gigel Elenescu came free, but Fernando Selatse reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 55 minutes into the match, Despidida AFC's goalkeeper Fernando Selatse had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nils Hovermann. Despidida AFC made a substitution. Emiliano Velasco replaced Alvaro Raymond. Despidida AFC's Pastor Tino was substituted for Kajetan Gdowik. Despidida AFC made a substitution. Dinu Ivănescu replaced Ancho Branca. Fernando Selatse took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wilhelm Nienhaus, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Despidida AFC's Fernando Selatse got control of the ball when Nils Hovermann tried to sneak it across the goal line. Fernando Selatse made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nils Hovermann in the 62nd minute. 63 minutes into the match, Hertha 1969's goal looked a bit too open when Emiliano Velasco came free, but Rune Jarstein reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 65 minutes into the match, Dinu Ivănescu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Rune Jarstein. Hertha 1969's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Dinu Ivănescu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Hertha 1969's Kristian Oswald was substituted for Benedikt Bensch. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emiliano Velasco in the 73rd minute of play forced Hertha 1969's goalkeeper Rune Jarstein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 74 minutes into the match, Despidida AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Wilhelm Nienhaus came free, but Fernando Selatse reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rune Jarstein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emiliano Velasco in the 78th minute of play. Nils Hovermann succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-2 in the 81st playminute. Hertha 1969's Rune Jarstein played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dinu Ivănescu in the 85th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Hertha 1969's Fernando Selatse threw himself towards the right post 87 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Wilhelm Nienhaus, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Gigel Elenescu received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Fernando Selatse came out and tried to block the shot, but Gigel Elenescu slotted it home off the left post making it 2-3 in the 88th minute. After having played for 90 minutes, Dinu Ivănescu managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Despidida AFC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dinu Ivănescu was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Hertha 1969 supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Hertha 1969 would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
