The supporters of Inter de Guayaquil FC booed when SAN LORENZO FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lv Tian Yuan didn't get a good kick on the ball. 27 minutes into the game, Jakub Ziombkowski cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Dario Astigar was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 31st minute Éric Cantona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dario Astigar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Éric Cantona couldn't finish the play. Dario Astigar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jakub Ziombkowski in the 36th minute of the match. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Inter de Guayaquil FC made a substitution. Lorenzo Acutain replaced Éric Cantona. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lisandro Nuñez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After some careless play in the SAN LORENZO FC defense, Jörn Svartengren kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dario Astigar. The SAN LORENZO FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dario Astigar should have stopped the shot. Dario Astigar didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Inter de Guayaquil FC. SAN LORENZO FC's Isaias Rosario was substituted for Allan Blom. 79 minutes into the match, Jörn Svartengren had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dario Astigar. SAN LORENZO FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jörn Svartengren was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. Jörn Svartengren's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dario Astigar read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 82nd minute of play. Dario Astigar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jörn Svartengren in the 85th minute of the match. Sebastian Hellkvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rafael Tiniebra, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. Sebastian Hellkvist showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ciriaco Cordarrell in the 95th minute of the match. The Inter de Guayaquil FC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Inter de Guayaquil FC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
