In the 15th minute Matei Comișel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Volkan Demirel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the game, one of Rovine Craiova:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Rovine Craiova:s Cezar Ghinescu showed great skill when he stopped İlhan Mansız:s penalty. İlhan Mansız took the ball and in the 19 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Cezar Ghinescu. Cezar Ghinescu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-2. Volkan Demirel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Matei Comișel's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. After a rather tough play, Nevşehirspor's Ahmet Ersal got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Volkan Demirel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Virgil Vergulescu in the 28th minute of play. Ionică Drâmba hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. In the 33rd minute Boğaçhan Kutberk shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cezar Ghinescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Rovine Craiova booed when Nevşehirspor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rahim Özkurt didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cezar Ghinescu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rıfkı Süvari, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Virgil Vergulescu to strike the kick off in the second half.
