In the 6th minute Enzo Proietti shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Akira Schmid saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Akira Schmid showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Enzo Proietti, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. 6 minutes into the match, Enzo Proietti had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Akira Schmid. Espen Steelers's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Enzo Proietti was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaetano Rothstein in the 10th minute of play forced Burnley FC's goalkeeper Dave Falcioni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 10th match minute, Espen Steelers was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gaetano Rothstein to maneuver through the defense. 13 minutes into the match, Enzo Proietti notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Espen Steelers's Akira Schmid. Akira Schmid was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Mauro Caviezel hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. Freeman Mächler kicked well hit freekick during the 18th minute of the match. After having played for 20 minutes, Freeman Mächler managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Espen Steelers's supporters crossed their fingers, but Freeman Mächler was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 21 minutes into the game, Fabian Schär cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Dave Falcioni was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Akira Schmid made a fantastic save in the 24th minute, when Aldo Catini sent off a good shot on target. Freeman Mächler recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dave Falcioni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabian Schär in the 29th minute of play. In the 33rd minute, Raphael Aregger hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 36 minutes into the game, Espen Steelers's Gaetano Rothstein nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Dave Falcioni made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. In the 43rd minute of the match, Enzo Proietti tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Akira Schmid saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Freeman Mächler was the one to do the kick off. When Roch Hatman fell near the penalty area in the 52nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Burnley FC's protests and gave Roch Hatman a yellow card for diving instead. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fabian Schär in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dave Falcioni saved Burnley FC from getting behind. Dave Falcioni made a fantastic save in the 69th minute, when Andres Ambühl sent off a good shot on target. Dave Falcioni was a little too slow when Hubert Gartenmann got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 71st minute. The score was now 2-3. After 74 minutes of play, Espen Steelers's Fabian Schär made it 2-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dave Falcioni was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Gaetano Rothstein had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristoforo Capuozzi in the 80th minute of play forced Espen Steelers's goalkeeper Akira Schmid to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fabian Schär struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Dave Falcioni didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Espen Steelers. Burnley FC's Dave Falcioni played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Harrison Muntwyler in the 86th minute of play. The supporters of Espen Steelers booed when Burnley FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 88 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabiano De Bonis didn't get a good kick on the ball. Andres Ambühl received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Dave Falcioni tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dave Falcioni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Harrison Muntwyler in the 92nd minute of play. In the 94th minute Harrison Muntwyler shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dave Falcioni saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
