David de Alcântara could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 45th minute of the match, but Jesus Sayveon made a huge save. After 47 played minutes 26 de junio got a freekick which was hit by Gavino Lobo. After the first half Athletico Picapedrense were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

In the 53rd minute, Eustaquio Txaran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Juanito Gabucio, 53 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Donato Cutberto made a fantastic save in the 55th minute, when Hristo Stoichkov sent off a good shot on target.
