Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Anestis Kotsopoulos in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vitinho Gaspar prevented the ball from getting in the gole. August Hoffmanns showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zé Carlos Moreno, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Lidice's defense didn't have a chance, in the 26th minute, when Anestis Kotsopoulos scored to the left of an out of position Vitinho Gaspar, making the score, 1-0. Vitinho Gaspar was a little too slow when Mesut Özil got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 28th minute. The score was now 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, Mesut Özil managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rot-Weiss-Essen's supporters rose to their feet, but Mesut Özil was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vitinho Gaspar breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Daniel Kvarnström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Maximilian Henning was slow to take the kick. During this time Rot-Weiss-Essen's players had a chance to rest. Maximilian Henning made a great header on Rot-Weiss-Essen's corner, it was just that Lidice's Vitinho Gaspar managed to reach the ball for a save. 86 minutes into the match, Mesut Özil had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Vitinho Gaspar. Lidice's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Mesut Özil was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 4-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Rot-Weiss-Essen fully deserved thier win.
