Petruț Fințescu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Virgilio Sotil read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Argentinos Juniors's Roberto Trotta got a free kick in the 12th minute. In the 13th minute, Guido Mitxaut hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 17th minute, Petruț Fințescu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 19th minute of the match, Domingos Aires tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Virgilio Sotil saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 23 minutes into the match, Villa Mitre's goalkeeper Virgilio Sotil had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Sven de Zwaan. A collision led to Argentinos Juniors getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Justo Elequemedo hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice moves Sven de Zwaan could shoot a difficult shot in the 27th minute, which Virgilio Sotil however easily saved by the left post. 28 minutes into the match, Villa Mitre's goal looked a bit too open when Justo Elequemedo came free, but Virgilio Sotil reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 40th match minute, Villa Mitre was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gaspar Mateo to maneuver through the defense. In the 44th minute, Argentinos Juniors's Domingos Aires ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Virgilio Sotil. Virgilio Sotil yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After having played for 51 minutes, Sven de Zwaan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Argentinos Juniors's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sven de Zwaan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 54th match minute, Villa Mitre was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Adolfo Libertad to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Argentinos Juniors getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Sven de Zwaan hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ramiro Jerano in the 62nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rigoberto Nazario saved Argentinos Juniors from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Petruț Fințescu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Argentinos Juniors's supporters rose to their feet, but Petruț Fințescu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Virgilio Sotil breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Virgilio Sotil made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Domingos Aires in the 67th minute of play. Virgilio Sotil didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Domingos Aires went, in the 77th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Villa Mitre's Virgilio Sotil played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sven de Zwaan in the 80th minute of play. When Argentinos Juniors's Sven de Zwaan in the 83rd minute got a chance for a shot 83rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
