The referee ignored Basavilbaso FC's protests and gave Zayvius Bengoechea a yellow card for diving instead. In the 3rd match minute, Basavilbaso FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Zayvius Bengoechea to maneuver through the defense. When Mugur Chiriac came up free with the goalie in the 4th minute, the Club Atlético Atlanta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mugur Chiriac couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Basavilbaso FC defense, Emil Chwalkiewicz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Orvar Bäckström. The Basavilbaso FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Orvar Bäckström should have stopped the shot. Club Atlético Atlanta's Pankracy Glogowski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henric Springfält in the 11th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 13 minutes, Alfonso Goicoechea put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Orvar Bäckström. With a little luck, Club Atlético Atlanta's Pankracy Glogowski got control of the ball when Raimundo Marquez tried to sneak it across the goal line. 20 minutes into the match, Alfonso Goicoechea had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Orvar Bäckström. Basavilbaso FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alfonso Goicoechea was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Clemente Rubio was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 28th minute. Basavilbaso FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After 29 played minutes Basavilbaso FC got a freekick which was hit by Venancio Lop. Orvar Bäckström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mugur Chiriac in the 30th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mugur Chiriac in the 33rd minute of play forced Basavilbaso FC's goalkeeper Orvar Bäckström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Alfonso Goicoechea managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Atlético Atlanta's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfonso Goicoechea was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Orvar Bäckström breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Orvar Bäckström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mugur Chiriac in the 36th minute of play. Orvar Bäckström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mugur Chiriac, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Club Atlético Atlanta were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Clemente Rubio made the kick off in the second half. Orvar Bäckström stood somewhat misplaced when Alfonso Goicoechea came free in front of goal and shot 0-5 to the left of him in the 51 minute. Paolo Caradaro struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Orvar Bäckström didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atlético Atlanta. The audience was convinced that Alfonso Goicoechea's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Orvar Bäckström was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. 59 minutes into the game, Mugur Chiriac recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Orvar Bäckström. Mugur Chiriac showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 0-6. Orvar Bäckström made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alfonso Goicoechea in the 61st minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Clemente Rubio in the 64th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pankracy Glogowski prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Eriberto Lordi kicked well hit freekick during the 69th minute of the match. Orvar Bäckström made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mugur Chiriac in the 70th minute of play. In the 73rd minute Mugur Chiriac shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Orvar Bäckström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Mugur Chiriac came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Club Atlético Atlanta fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mugur Chiriac couldn't finish the play. Orvar Bäckström showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alfonso Goicoechea in the 75th minute of the match. Eriberto Lordi charged in rather forcefully in the 80th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Eriberto Lordi the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 80th match minute, Basavilbaso FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eriberto Lordi to maneuver through the defense. Pankracy Glogowski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Clemente Rubio, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. In the 94th minute, Clemente Rubio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pankracy Glogowski was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-7. The Club Atlético Atlanta players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
