The Grillby FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After 7 played minutes Grillby FC got a freekick which was hit by Karl-Åke Forsberg. In the 13th minute Matthias Grubb shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tom Saunders saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sune Snäll made an important save on a dangerous shot by Archie Hewitson in the 16th minute. Stefan Larsfelt blasted a shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tom Saunders having to make a save. Stefan Larsfelt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Tom Saunders tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Karl-Åke Forsberg hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Frankie Conlon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Edinburgh City's supporters rose to their feet, but Frankie Conlon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Sune Snäll breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edinburgh City's Jason Geddes got a good chance for a goal in the 25th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Stefan Larsfelt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Tom Saunders tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Frankie Conlon received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Sune Snäll tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Archie Hewitson in the 33rd minute of play forced Grillby FC's goalkeeper Sune Snäll to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edinburgh City's Tom Saunders played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Matthias Grubb in the 34th minute of play. Matthias Grubb took the ball and in the 34 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Tom Saunders. Tom Saunders dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Grillby FC's Sune Snäll played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frankie Conlon in the 41st minute of play. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Archie Hewitson made the kick off in the second half. Karl-Åke Forsberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tom Saunders having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 55 minutes, Karl-Åke Forsberg took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Tom Saunders to make any attempt to save it. When Matthias Grubb came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Grillby FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Matthias Grubb couldn't finish the play. Jason Geddes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sune Snäll having to interfere. Karl-Åke Forsberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tom Saunders having to interfere. Archie Hewitson scored 2-3 in the 80th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Sune Snäll, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Edinburgh City booed when Grillby FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Stefan Larsfelt didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Archie Hewitson in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Sune Snäll saved Grillby FC from getting behind. After a defensive mix-up in Grillby FC's zone, Frankie Conlon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sune Snäll came out of the goal and Frankie Conlon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 91 played minutes Edinburgh City got a freekick which was hit by Archie Hewitson.
