The supporters of Inter de Guayaquil FC booed when Club Atlético Temperley was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nicasio Naelio didn't get a good kick on the ball. 7 minutes into the match, Inter de Guayaquil FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lisandro Abeitia came free, but Danilo Villafane reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Danilo Villafane came out of the goal in the 10th minute to try and stop a shot by Club Atlético Temperley's Isidoro Corderun. But to his dismay, Isidoro Corderun quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 14th minute, Lisandro Abeitia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Club Atlético Temperley's Braulio Vito got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Isidoro Corderun hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. Claudio Frances showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Franco Mussoll, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Club Atlético Temperley's Claudio Frances played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Valiente Tebar in the 31st minute of play. Braulio Vito hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Franco Mussoll took the ball and in the 42 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Claudio Frances. Claudio Frances dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Braulio Vito made a kick off. Danilo Villafane showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Lisandro Abeitia in the 52nd minute of the match. Camacho Goiri kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. In the 63rd minute, Braulio Vito made a precise shot to the right of Danilo Villafane. Inter de Guayaquil FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. Claudio Frances made an important save on a dangerous shot by Camacho Goiri in the 68th minute. Claudio Frances made a fantastic save in the 70th minute, when Franco Mussoll sent off a good shot on target. In the 79th minute, Camacho Goiri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 84 minutes into the match, Club Atlético Temperley's goal looked a bit too open when Gabriel Gallego came free, but Claudio Frances reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Club Atlético Temperley's Claudio Frances got control of the ball when Alarcón Mallavia tried to sneak it across the goal line. Claudio Frances made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Franco Mussoll in the 86th minute of play. After 87 played minutes Club Atlético Temperley got a freekick which was hit by Isidoro Corderun. Club Atlético Temperley's Claudio Frances proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Club Atlético Temperley from getting a goal against them. In the 93rd match minute, Club Atlético Temperley was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cesar Gartxot to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 96 minutes, Gabriel Gallego managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Inter de Guayaquil FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gabriel Gallego was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Club Atlético Temperley players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
