De Gröna FK's Harry Jonasson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cumbicus Caller in the 14th minute of play. Harry Jonasson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cumbicus Caller's shot from short distance in the 16th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Inter de Guayaquil FC's zone, Edmund Clementsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Danilo Villafane came out of the goal and Edmund Clementsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 25th minute, Cumbicus Caller ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Harry Jonasson was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 31st minute, De Gröna FK's Edmund Clementsson dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. In the 38th minute, Edmund Clementsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 42nd minute, Alarcón Mallavia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 43rd minute, Roque Mora hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 46 minutes into the game, Arvin Skytt was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. De Gröna FK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Inter de Guayaquil FC the free kick. In the 46th match minute, De Gröna FK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arvin Skytt to maneuver through the defense. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cumbicus Caller stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, De Gröna FK's goal looked a bit too open when José-Manuel Teigeiro came free, but Harry Jonasson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edmund Clementsson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Danilo Villafane read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. If José-Manuel Teigeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 58th minute Cumbicus Caller shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Harry Jonasson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cumbicus Callers short, quick shot in the 58thth minute got Harry Jonasson to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cumbicus Caller in the 59th minute of play forced De Gröna FK's goalkeeper Harry Jonasson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 61st minute Cumbicus Caller shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Harry Jonasson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Edmund Clementsson hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Cumbicus Caller could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Harry Jonasson made a huge save. Vinicio Idiaquez kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Harry Jonasson made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cumbicus Caller in the 80th minute. Danilo Villafane made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Henry Söderström in the 86th minute of play. De Gröna FK's Edmund Clementsson got a good chance for a goal in the 89th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The supporters of Inter de Guayaquil FC booed when De Gröna FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leonardo Mellbad didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 93rd minute, Villafuerte Pando sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and De Gröna FK's Harry Jonasson didn't even have to move. Inter de Guayaquil FC's Marcelo Calenga got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Inter de Guayaquil FC's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
